This is our dinner for V-day!!! its a meal from the Hawaiian cuisine which should consist of a bowl of white rice, topped with a hamburger patty, a fried egg and some brown gravy. But the one I made is Asian inspired adapted from Love and Olive Oil using the same concept taking rice/meat/egg/gravy to a different level.
These were long overdue in my house; when you get a pack of hersheys peanut butter chips you want to put them into best use. I received my pack from my mum who had brought them over during her visits to Bangalore and they were just lying in the fridge waiting to be done what you should rightfully do with them apart from sneak a chip or two into the mouth . And so I did them right.
When the berries are in season you want them to be highlight of your dessert or tea time. My son had been screaming 'strawberries', 'strawberries' - make something mama!!! And in my conquest of hunting a recipe to make something or anything, I stumbled upon a post on facebook by Nandita Iyer of Saffron trail. She put up the recipe on a strawberry cake, so instantly with my eyes glued to the recipe I asked my son - "how about cake with strawberries Elijah"?!! He immediately lit up with the very thought of it. So there you have it a nice warm cake with molten strawberries oozing with every bite.
You will love this cake, especially if your baking after a good long break, especially me coz I just delivered my second baby sometime back! I was itching, and I tell you it was an itch ....of wanting to do something other than feeding, changing diapers, burping the lil one, carrying him and the list goes on and mind you I have an older son to take care off too!!! The sweet cinnamon ripple against the slices of apple and a nice crunchy buttery topping makes you go definitely wanting to bake this again.
So I was in Kuwait last October and in my usual visit to IKEA, while my eyes scout for stuff I don't have, there in a big metal bin lie these gorgeous blue and green, yellow and pink Popsicle molds. I mean without even a flicker of doubt on whether I need them? will I use them?! didn't even arise, they went straight for billing... lest I changed my mind you know later maybe...... So during the summer hols me and my lil one put them to use by making some watermelon popsicles. Ooh!!! I tell you there is no limit to the joy in licking on a popsicle and giving them all the attention - you know childish fun!!
Brown butter, also known as beurre noisette, is made by cooking butter long enough to turn the milk solids and salt particles brown while cooking out any water.its one of those magical secret ingredients that just seems to enhance the flavor of just about anything. I made come cupcakes coz my lil one was pestering me for some!!
These cookies are stamped "Pur beurre" meaning pure butter, these are classic French Round Cookies with the fluted edge. A bite of Paris in your own home
